Bhubaneswar: Showing dissatisfaction over the reply of the Higher Education Secretary in retention of autonomous status for the Rama Devi (RD) Women’s University for Plus-II and Plus-III colleges, the students of the varsity on Monday again blocked the road connecting Vani Vihar and Master Canteen by burning tyres.
For an hour, the vehicular traffic is seen disrupted forcing local police to intervene into the matter.
The students staged agitation holding placards and shouting slogans in front of the University. The students informed that Rama Devi College has its reputation as Plus-II and Plus-III students are its identity.
The State Government has decided to separate the Plus-II and Plus-III colleges after it was declared a university but still the process is not been initiated by the concerned department, the students alleged.
Police personnel were deployed on the spot to tackle any untoward incident during the protest.
“We are not satisfied with the reply of the Higher Education Secretary. Now, we have no trust on the department dealing the issue. We hope the Chief Minister will look into the matter and take appropriate decision into it,” said an aggrieved student.
The agitating students have threatened that they would continue their agitation in front of the college gate until and unless their demands are fulfilled.
