Kendrapada;Odisha: Mamata Dalai of Bankual village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district has been selected for the prestigious Indian Council for Child Welfare( ICCW) National Bravery Award.
Mamta will receive the award from PM Modi on January 24, two days before the Republic Day parade.
The incident is of 6th April 2017, when Mamta Dalai and her sister Asanti Dalai , went to bath in a village pond to take bath. Suddenly, a crocodile, over 5 feet long emerged and attacked Asanti. Mamta instead of running with fear , caught hold of her sister’s hand and pulled her back from the jaws of the crocodile.She didn’t gave up and as a result, crocodile lost grip from her sister and she could bring her sister home safely. Asanti got some injuries but was safe.
The crocodile was later caught by the forest officials and released it into the river.
