Bhubaneswar, Mar 1: Known for his Odia bhajan like ‘Kala Saante Acha Kemante’ and many more, Noted Bhajan Singer Arabinda Muduli passed away at the age of 56 on wee hour of Thursday here after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest.
After he complained of chest pain late on Wednesday-Thursday night, his family member shifted him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he died.
Muduli was staying here in Bhimtangi area with his family. Being a disciple of Bhikari Bal, Muduli, an Odia musician, singer and lyricist started his journey to sing Bhajans, mostly devotional songs of Lord Jagannath.
In addition to this, to give full time to Bhajan he had earlier turned down offer to sing commercial movie songs. For his devotional songs, Muduli was honoured with “Swar Srikshetra”, at the lion gate of Jagannath temple in Puri by the Governor of Odisha and had Certificate of appreciation from Mumbai Odia Mahasangh in 2013.
“His heart was not pumping properly due to which he was under medication from 2013. After he complained of chest pain, we rushed him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar,” informed Muduli’s son Krupasindhu to a local TV channel here.
His body will be taken to his native village Khanati in Khurda district and his last rites will be performed at Puri Swargadwar, he said.
