Bhubaneswar: Odisha would organise Second Edition of Make In Odisha Conclave during November this year, announced State’s Minister of MSME Prafulla Samal while speaking at Global Economic Summit-2018 held at Expo Centre, World Trade Centre (WTC) in Mumbai.
World Trade Centre, Bhubaneswar with active support of Odisha’s MSME department promoted the trade and business potentials of the state during the three-day mega event that started on February 22, organised by WTC, Mumbai in association with All India Association of Industries.
Selected exporters from the state took the opportunity to demonstrate and display their products representing focus sector such as food processing, engineering, spices, handlooms and handicrafts. The exporters from the state gained an excellent opportunity to interact and highlight their products at a global platform and explore greater market for their products.
Minister of State for External Affairs Gen. VK Singh, Chairman of WTC, Mumbai Kamal Morarka, Odisha’s Additional Chief Secretary of MSME Laxmi Narayan Gupta, President of All India Association of Industries Vijay Kalantri and Chairman of WTC, Bhubaneswar Somesh Batra also spoke on the occasion and encouraged the export houses.
Minister Shri Samal informed the gathering about the various initiatives taken by Government of Odisha to promote Small and Medium Enterprises across sectors such as extending financial support to establish linkages with external stakeholders. He highlighted Odisha as a state of opportunities with the export policy, legal acts and many more such government supportive policies meant to support MSMEs.
Shri LN Gupta shared information about establishment of Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) with an aim to train 11 lakh youths by 2019-2020. Besides, 8.5 lakh youths have already been skilled.
He further added that promotions of Start-ups, innovation and entrepreneurship remain top priority of Odisha government. The state has also started Start-ups Odisha initiative with the launch of Start-up Odisha Policy last year with a mission to support 1000 start ups and vision of emerging amongst top 3 start-up hubs in the country.
