Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: 16th All India People’s Science Congress started its 3rd day by conducting a plenary session on ‘Celebrating Diversity’, with the presence of Vivek Monteiro as the chairperson of the main event. The session was mainly focused on the topic like ‘The shared heritage of S & T’ and “Cultural diversity and Pluralism’ presented by Prabir Purkayastha, S.G Dani, and Megha Pansare respectively.
Apart from these, 3 sub-plenary were also organized with topics like ‘Inequality and gender, ‘Inequality and Social exclusion’ and ‘Testimonies on Child Marriage’ were briefly discussed.
“In order to grasp the depth and extent of transformation of social sciences required in order to understand gender and women’s activities, one needs to recognize the limitation of most obvious ways one would try to rectify the andocentric of traditional analysis”, said Malini Bhattacharya, while addressing the sub plenary raising the issue on ‘Gender Equality and Social venue’.
She said, “People Science movement is the women movement and it deals with the quality, democracy, women’s imagination in our country”.
Participation of many local school children during the post-lunch session was greatly appreciated by the AIPSC delegates, who showcased their workshop based on ‘Health Crisis’, ‘Rural Technologies and Livelihood’, ‘Education Policy towards Privatisation’.
Workshops were organized on many different topics like Health, Technologies for improvement of livelihoods, social justice, Urban Development facilitate by Gargeya Pradhan, N.K. Sasidhran Pillai, Director, IRTC and many others.
The closing day of 16th AIPSC will witness over 800 delegates from all over India. Badri Narayan Patra, Minister of School and Mass Education, Science & Technology would share the dais. Speakers like Rao Saheb Kasbe (President, Maharashtra), Ms. Yumi Bae (Chief of UNICEF State Office, Odisha), Padmashree Bhabanisankar (Chairman Kalinga Foundation), Prof. V. Muruganandam (Acting Director, NISER), Dr. D Balasubramanian (Former Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad) will speak on various topics, the organiser informed.
